Cindy Margolis and John Mulhern have announced that they are accepting offers for a rare 1859 Steinway concert grand piano. The piano, once owned by notable Scottish architect and soldier J. Abercromby, is a model #2207 Overstrung, one of only a few manufactured between 1859 and 1865.
This vintage Steinway carries an engraved plate featuring the #2207 stamp and the name J. Abercromby, adding to its historical significance. Additionally, it comes with a letter from Roy Kehl, the author of 'The Official Guide to Steinway Pianos,' who estimates the piano's age to be circa 1859.
John Austin Mulhern, the current owner, is not only a recognized musician but also the owner of the Atlantic City Recording Studio, which was a hub for top entertainers during the Casino era of the 1980s and 1990s. Mulhern is open to considering reasonable offers for the 85-key concert grand Steinway.
The sale of this rare Steinway piano is noteworthy not just for its historical provenance but also for its potential impact on collectors and musicians alike. The unique combination of its age, rarity, and association with prominent historical figures and musicians makes it a significant artifact in the world of music and collectibles.
