84 Ethiopian Churches Adopt Shincheonji Name in Major Religious Shift

The religious landscape in Ethiopia has undergone a substantial transformation as 84 churches across 10 cities have officially changed their signboards to Shincheonji Church of Jesus, the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony. This development follows a signboard changing ceremony hosted by Shincheonji Church's Peter Tribe on September 10th, where participating pastors declared their new membership in the organization.

The 84 pastors collectively stated their commitment to spreading the teachings they have embraced, declaring: "We have become members of Shincheonji Church of Jesus, having mastered the word of the New Covenant Revelation. We resolve to preach this word throughout Ethiopia, so that both pastors and believers alike may follow only the truth and devote themselves more fervently to the ministry of the word." This unified statement underscores the theological shift occurring within these congregations.

The movement traces back to Ethiopian Pastor Asefa Angeto's participation in the "2nd Global Invitation Revelation Seminar" held in November 2024 at the Shincheonji Cheongju Church in South Korea. After returning to Ethiopia, Pastor Asefa conducted local seminars based on his learnings and traveled extensively, visiting more than 100 churches across 10 cities to share the revealed word he had received from Shincheonji Church of Jesus.

A representative from Shincheonji Church's Peter Tribe indicated that the expansion efforts are continuing, noting: "Currently, 181 pastors in Ethiopia are learning the revealed word from Shincheonji Church of Jesus. We will continue to make known the fact that the prophecies of Revelation have been fulfilled today, and we will do our utmost so that churches around the world may become united through the word." This statement, available through their official communications at https://www.shincheonji.org, highlights the organization's global unification objectives.

The signboard changes represent what observers are calling a breakthrough within the Ethiopian Christian community, potentially signaling broader theological shifts and organizational realignments. The scale of this transition—affecting 84 established churches—suggests significant religious momentum that could influence denominational relationships and theological education throughout the region and beyond.
