Powermoon Productions is set to bring a fresh perspective to the zombie genre with its upcoming short film 'Silent Half', enlisting acclaimed Director of Photography Yukiko Cho to capture the narrative's nuanced exploration of human coexistence and resilience.
The film, directed by multi-award-winning Sara Eustáquio, centers on a world where a virus has transformed half of humanity into non-threatening zombies. Cho's extensive festival experience, including nominations at the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival and awards from the Los Angeles Movie & Music Video Awards, positions her to deliver a visually compelling interpretation of this unique premise.
The production features a talented ensemble, including actors Lee Chen from HBO's VEEP and theatre artist Yaoyao Qi. Executive Producer Rachel Ma, with her background in award-qualifying festivals, brings additional creative credibility to the project.
Pre-production is scheduled to begin January 1, 2027, with principal photography planned for July 19-23, 2027. Cho will collaborate closely with Eustáquio to meticulously plan the film's visual narrative, promising a distinctive take on the zombie genre that emphasizes human connection and adaptability.
