Mainly Mozart has announced pianist Anton Nel as its Artistic Partner for the 2025 and 2026 seasons, marking a significant milestone for both the renowned musician and the festival. Nel, who first performed with the organization in 1989 as its inaugural featured outdoor soloist, will bring his extensive musical expertise to multiple performances with the Mainly Mozart All-Star Orchestra.
Nel, an internationally acclaimed pianist known for his masterful interpretations of classical works, will perform in three distinct concerts at the Baker-Baum Concert Hall in The Conrad. His performances will include works by Vivaldi, Bach, and contemporary composer Noah Bendix-Balgley, showcasing his remarkable versatility across musical periods and styles.
Beyond performances, Nel will host exclusive pre-concert recitals for subscribers and donors, offering an intimate exploration of Mozart's chamber and solo piano masterworks. These recitals will highlight different aspects of Mozart's compositional genius, from intricate chamber music to virtuosic solo piano pieces.
The partnership represents a significant moment for Mainly Mozart, with Nel joining an exceptional lineup of festival artists including concertmasters and principal musicians from prestigious orchestras across the United States. His involvement underscores the festival's commitment to musical excellence and deep artistic connections.
Nel's extensive musical background, including winning the 1987 Naumburg International Piano Competition and performing with renowned orchestras worldwide, brings considerable artistic credibility to the festival. His upcoming faculty position at The Royal Conservatory of Music's Glenn Gould School further demonstrates his ongoing contributions to musical education and performance.
