Ackerman & Co. and Novare Group have announced a partnership to develop a new retail project in Sugar Hill, Georgia, marking a significant addition to the city's expanding downtown area. The development will consist of two retail buildings, measuring 6,035 and 7,240 square feet, situated next to Novare Group's 306-unit Conclave Sugar Hill multifamily community.
The project, located on a 4-acre site on Hillcrest Drive, aims to complement Sugar Hill's master-planned downtown and enhance the city's appeal as a live, work, play destination. Kelly Wilson, Senior Vice President of Ackerman Retail, will lead the leasing efforts for the development, which will target a mix of homegrown and regional restaurants, fast-casual eateries, boutiques, and shops.
Leo Wiener, President of Ackerman Retail, emphasized the project's significance, stating, "This is an exciting opportunity for us to partner with Novare Group on this high-quality project adjacent to the City of Sugar Hill's master-planned downtown. The city has created a vibrant live, work, play district, and we're looking forward to adding a great mix of restaurants and retail to complement the city's downtown amenities."
The development is strategically positioned to integrate with Sugar Hill's 11.5-mile Greenway and will connect to downtown via a pedestrian bridge spanning Highway 20. Additionally, two acres adjoining the retail project site will be dedicated to a public park, further enhancing the area's appeal.
This partnership between Ackerman & Co. and Novare Group represents a significant investment in Sugar Hill's future, potentially driving economic growth and job creation in the area. The project aligns with the ongoing trend of mixed-use developments that aim to create more walkable, community-oriented urban spaces.
As cities like Sugar Hill continue to focus on creating vibrant downtown districts, this development could serve as a model for similar projects in other growing suburban areas. The success of this venture may influence future urban planning decisions and retail development strategies in the region, highlighting the importance of integrating residential, retail, and public spaces in community development.
