The 2026 Adriana Bianco Argentine–Latino Film & Art Festival concluded with a historic milestone: 25 years of bridging Latin American and U.S. cultures. Held at Nova Southeastern University (NSU) in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, the festival offered free Sunday screenings throughout September at the Don Taft University Center Performance Theater, complete with complimentary coffee.

Under the direction of award-winning Argentine actress Adriana Bianco, recipient of the Cóndor de Plata award and known as the “Shirley Temple of the Southern Cone,” the festival showcased international films with English subtitles and introductory commentary by Bianco. The lineup included Mi Mundial – A Tribute to Soccer (Uruguay, dir. Carlos Morelli), Broche de Oro – Beginnings (Puerto Rico, dir. Raúl Marchand Sánchez), Sucre (Venezuela, dir. Alidha Ávila) with the short Damas de Medianoche (dir. Diego Cowks, 2025), and Un Amor de Borges (Argentina, dir. Javier Torre).

The closing ceremony drew diplomatic and literary figures, including Consul of Uruguay in Miami María Virginia Toledo, Dr. Elena Ortega-Tauler presenting her book Estate Planning in Florida, journalist Nancy Clara presenting Step by Step: How to Do Business with the U.S. alongside Hispanic Target Magazine, and Judith Croker, editor of En USA Newspaper. Institutional support came from the NSU Alvin Sherman Library, the Spanish Cultural Center in Miami (CCEmiami), the North American Academy of the Spanish Language (ANLE), and the Broward County Cultural Division.

Beyond film, the festival embraced its Film & Art concept with two fine arts exhibitions curated by Bianco at the Rosella Gallery: “Tribute to Uruguayan Artist José Gamarra” and “Tribute to Jorge Luis Borges.”

Founded 25 years ago, the festival has become an essential academic and cultural beacon in South Florida. In 2025, NSU dedicated a permanent archival space within its library to honor Bianco’s legacy, making her the first Argentine actress to receive such a distinction. The 2026 edition garnered extensive press coverage in En USA Newspaper, Nagari Magazine, NSU Newsroom, and Hispanic Target Magazine, while generating vibrant social media engagement. Coverage was also distributed via NOTICIAS NEWSWIRE.

“This festival represents memory, identity, and future,” stated Adriana Bianco. Consul María Virginia Toledo highlighted “the priceless value of culture as an unbreakable bond between nations” and congratulated Bianco for her tireless dedication to promoting Hispanic cinema in the United States. Dr. Elena Ortega-Tauler expressed gratitude for the invitation and urged the public to keep supporting cultural initiatives.

The organizers thanked the audience and announced the upcoming 2027 edition. For more information, visit www.hispanictarget.com.

This quarter-century milestone underscores the festival’s enduring impact as a cultural bridge, fostering cross-cultural understanding and enriching South Florida’s academic and artistic landscape. Its free programming ensures accessibility, while the permanent NSU archive preserves Bianco’s legacy for future generations. As the festival looks ahead to 2027, it continues to serve as a vital platform for Latin American cinema and art, reinforcing the importance of cultural exchange in an increasingly interconnected world.
