A comprehensive study by Omnisend, a leading e-commerce marketing platform, has uncovered significant insights into the evolving landscape of digital marketing strategies. The research, which analyzed over 11 billion messages, demonstrates how American brands are harnessing multi-channel communication to generate substantial revenue.
The study revealed that in 2024, American brands collectively generated $1.4 billion in revenue from 8.5 million sales, with an average order value of $165. This achievement underscores the effectiveness of a diversified marketing approach that integrates email, SMS, and push notifications.
One of the most striking findings is the dramatic rise in mobile messaging. Brands increased push notifications by 2.5 times and SMS messages by 43% compared to the previous year, resulting in a 68% overall channel adoption growth. This trend indicates a significant shift towards more direct and personalized customer communication.
Automated messaging emerged as a particularly powerful tool, with a remarkable one-in-three conversion rate for user interactions. In contrast, scheduled messages achieved only a one-in-17 conversion rate. Despite representing just 1.5% of email volume, automated messages drove 29% of all sales, highlighting their efficiency.
The Health and Games industries demonstrated the most impressive performance, with email click-to-conversion rates of 13.44% and 12.43%, respectively. These sectors showcase the potential of targeted, behavior-triggered marketing strategies.
Greg Zakowicz, Senior E-commerce Expert at Omnisend, emphasized the importance of leveraging first-party data and creating strategic, automated marketing campaigns. The study recommends that brands focus on behavior-triggered messaging, adopt a multi-channel approach, incorporate social proof, and continuously analyze and refine their marketing strategies.
As the digital marketing landscape continues to evolve, this study provides valuable insights into how brands can effectively engage customers and drive revenue through intelligent, personalized communication strategies.
