Ashby Ponds Residents Fund Over $370,000 in Scholarships for Student Employees

Fifty high school students employed at Ashby Ponds, an Erickson Senior Living community in Ashburn, VA, have been awarded scholarships totaling over $370,000 by the community's residents. These students, recognized for their service and professionalism in the community's restaurants, will receive $12,000 each over four years, with additional named scholarships and awards for children of employees enhancing the total support.

To qualify, students must work 1,000 hours over two years, maintain good academic and professional standing, and enroll full-time in a college, university, or trade school. Executive Director Tom Channon emphasized the scholarships' impact, noting the residents' generosity significantly benefits the students' futures. Additionally, 32 college students received one-year scholarships of $3,000, underscoring Ashby Ponds' support for education among its team members.

This initiative not only aids the students financially but also strengthens the bond between the Ashby Ponds community and its young employees, showcasing a model of intergenerational support and investment in future leaders.
