Blue Faery to Host Free Liver Cancer Education Event in Chicago

Blue Faery: The Adrienne Wilson Liver Cancer Association will host a free, in-person HCC Lunch & Learn on October 24, 2026, at the University of Chicago Medicine in the Knapp Center for Biomedical Discovery Auditorium, First Floor, Room 1103. The event, which runs from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with doors opening at 9:30 a.m., is designed to provide critical education about liver health, liver disease, and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), the most common form of primary liver cancer.

Developed in collaboration with liver cancer experts, the HCC Lunch & Learn aims to help patients, caregivers, and individuals at risk for liver cancer better understand prevention, early detection, treatment options, and available support resources. The free event includes a catered lunch and complimentary parking with validation, though attendees must bring their parking ticket inside for validation. Due to the serious nature of the topics discussed, attendees must be at least 16 years old, and each attendee must register separately. Space is limited, and advance registration is encouraged.

"Knowledge can change outcomes—everyone deserves clear, trusted information and support when facing liver cancer," said Andrea Wilson Woods, Founder and President of Blue Faery. The event will cover liver disease and HCC risk factors and symptoms, prevention and early detection of liver cancer, current treatment options for HCC, the importance of multidisciplinary care, and resources and support for patients and caregivers.

Hepatocellular carcinoma is the most common form of primary liver cancer, and many of its major risk factors are connected to chronic liver disease. Increasing awareness of those risks and helping people understand when screening and specialized care may be needed are critical parts of improving liver cancer outcomes. This event matters because liver cancer often presents with few symptoms in its early stages, making education and early detection vital for survival. By bringing expert-led education directly to the community, Blue Faery aims to empower individuals to take proactive steps regarding their liver health.

Blue Faery's HCC Lunch & Learn series supports its mission to prevent, treat, and cure primary liver cancer through education, advocacy, and support. For those unable to attend in person, Blue Faery hosts an online Liver Cancer Community for patients and caregivers. The organization also provides free comprehensive patient education with its Patient Resource Guides for Liver Cancer.
