Boerne Independent School District has launched Constellations, a digital magazine developed through collaboration between district leadership and design studio Manifestive Design. The publication represents a strategic effort to create a unified communication system for the growing Texas Hill Country school district.
Superintendent Dr. Kristin Craft emphasized the publication's role in showcasing the district's identity and direction. "The digital publication provides a glimpse into what we're about, where we're headed, and why so many families have chosen Boerne and called it home for so many generations," Craft said. The district needed more than just another publication—it required a cohesive system that could unify voices across multiple campuses while reflecting the organization's pride, excellence, and forward momentum.
The magazine's content was developed collaboratively by Dr. Craft, Dr. Maggie Dominguez (Boerne ISD Executive Director of Communications), and campus principals to ensure authentic district-wide representation. Content includes an overview of the Boerne Advantage, inspirational stories from every campus submitted by principals, a full listing of High School UIL achievements, a comprehensive district bond update, and noteworthy achievements throughout Boerne ISD.
Manifestive Design transformed this content into a visually striking experience featuring custom-illustrated constellations representing each campus's mascot and a Boerne ISD galaxy accurately plotted according to the district's geographic footprint. Every page was carefully crafted to deliver energy, rhythm, and beauty, turning stories into a publication the district can proudly share. The campaign extended beyond the magazine itself, with Manifestive Design developing a full communication suite including a matching slide deck design for the State of the District presentation at the Cana Ballroom, email newsletter templates, and social media post designs to amplify reach and engagement.
This initiative matters because it demonstrates how strategic communication can strengthen educational communities. In an era where school districts face increasing challenges in maintaining community engagement and transparent communication, Constellations represents a modern approach to district storytelling. The publication serves as more than just an informational tool—it creates a communication ecosystem that connects teachers, students, leadership, and community members through intentional design and strategic clarity.
The impact extends beyond Boerne ISD, setting a standard for what modern educational communications can achieve. By showcasing achievements, sharing campus stories, and providing transparent updates on district initiatives like bond programs, Constellations helps build community trust and pride. For other school districts observing this approach, it offers a model for how to effectively communicate complex educational narratives while maintaining visual coherence and strategic messaging across multiple platforms.
