The Supervisory Board of BRAIN Biotech AG has appointed Dr. Sven K. Weber to the Executive Board as Chairman and CEO, effective October 1, 2026, succeeding Adriaan Moelker who will retire at the end of his contract term. Moelker, who led the company for six years, will remain as a senior advisor until January 2027.
Dr. Weber, 44, brings extensive experience from his tenure at BASF Group since 2011, most recently as Vice President responsible for the global enzyme business. In that role, he drove innovation-led profitable growth, significantly increasing revenue and earnings. Prior to BASF, he held positions at Chemetall GmbH and hte GmbH, and began his career at Merck Group. He holds a diploma and doctorate in chemistry from the University of Heidelberg and completed an executive program at SGMI Management Institute in St. Gallen.
Dr. Michael Majerus, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, praised Moelker for repositioning BRAIN Biotech as an integrated manufacturing company in the enzyme sector and successfully monetizing projects from the BRAINBioIncubator. Majerus expressed confidence that Dr. Weber will continue the strategic direction, tap into additional growth potential, and accelerate operational implementation.
Dr. Weber stated his intention to build on BRAIN Biotech's strong technological foundation and scientific expertise to accelerate growth, strengthen profitability, and bring innovative products to market faster. His goal is to develop BRAIN into a leading provider of specialty enzymes in selected application areas and unlock further growth through the BRAINBioIncubator.
