The program addresses a critical educational challenge highlighted by recent national data showing only 39% of fourth graders and 28% of eighth graders in the U.S. are performing at or above the NAEP "Proficient" level in mathematics, according to the National Assessment of Educational Progress. These statistics underscore the widespread need for targeted academic support in mathematics education across the country.
Eileen Elliott, Executive Director of Education at Branches Learning, emphasized the program's significance, stating that the organization is committed to ensuring no student falls behind in foundational math. The scholarships are designed to provide not just extra instruction but tailored support to help students gain confidence and reach grade-level performance.
Applications for the limited program are open through September 30, 2025, with only 20 student slots available for the 2025-26 school year.
