Two alumni from Brigham Young University–Idaho have launched Afrisource, a nonprofit platform designed to transform the global outsourcing landscape by connecting businesses with vetted, high-quality African professionals.
Co-founders Mac Agbonavbare and Marcelo Wilen, both international students with backgrounds in technology and nonprofit work, created Afrisource to address systemic barriers facing talented African professionals seeking global economic opportunities. The platform offers businesses fully managed outsourcing services across various professional domains, including operations, marketing, customer support, and business administration.
Unlike traditional outsourcing models, Afrisource differentiates itself through a human-first approach that prioritizes quality, trust, and mutual growth. The organization conducts thorough background checks and provides comprehensive support, including hiring, onboarding, payroll, and compliance management.
The startup's mission extends beyond transactional staffing. By reinvesting resources into professionals and their communities, Afrisource aims to create sustainable economic mobility for African talent while providing global businesses with access to a previously overlooked talent pool.
Leveraging their personal experiences as international professionals who once felt marginalized, Agbonavbare and Wilen are positioning Afrisource as a bridge between underutilized African talent and companies seeking high-impact professionals. Their approach represents a potential paradigm shift in how global businesses source and engage talent across international boundaries.
With Africa's extensive pool of skilled professionals and the growing remote-first economy, Afrisource is strategically positioned to address critical gaps in the global talent marketplace. By offering an impact-driven, cost-effective outsourcing solution, the nonprofit could significantly influence how companies approach international talent acquisition and workforce development.
