Canadian RV Association Receives National Award for Pediatric Cancer Camp Support

The Canadian Recreational Vehicle Association (CRVA) has been honored with the We Care Corporate Award from Care Camps Foundation for its national fundraising and awareness campaign supporting pediatric oncology camps across Canada. The award recognizes CRVA's year-long initiative tied to its 50th anniversary celebrations, which involved coast-to-coast events connecting with campground owners, dealerships, and community partners.

Care Camps Foundation Executive Director Gwynn Sullivan presented the award to CRVA President Shane Devenish during the RV Dealers Association Convention in Las Vegas. Sullivan emphasized that "Care Camps exists because of the outdoor industry and partners like CRVA who go above and beyond," noting that "CRVA's 50th anniversary initiative exemplified what it means to lead with heart." The foundation supports medically supervised pediatric oncology camps for children and families through partnerships with organizations like the Children's Oncology Camping Association (COCA).

Throughout 2025, CRVA traveled across Canada with the CRVA 50th RV, generously donated by General Coach Canada, creating opportunities to connect with RV enthusiasts and industry partners. Many participants shared personal stories and donated generously to support Care Camps' mission. CRVA Chair Marty Bloemberg explained that while celebrating the association's milestone, "we wanted to find a way to give back in a meaningful way, and CRVA's Board was unanimous in its support of Care Camps."

Devenish noted that meeting people face-to-face during the tour was particularly meaningful, saying "hearing their RV stories and seeing their passion for camping first hand, but especially watching how quickly everyone rallied to support our mission this year with Care Camps." The association emphasized that the recognition must be shared with industry partners including RVDA of Canada, Go RVing Canada, and the Canadian Camping and RV Association, whose support has been instrumental in strengthening the RV sector nationwide.

As CRVA looks beyond its 50th year, the association reaffirmed its commitment to industry leadership, community engagement, and supporting causes like Care Camps that reflect the values of the RV community. The award underscores how industry associations can leverage milestone celebrations to create meaningful social impact while strengthening community connections across their sectors.
