The Centre for Neuro Skills (CNS) has launched the "Neuro Skills Podcast," a weekly video series aimed at deepening understanding of brain injury rehabilitation and its transformative potential. Debuting in recognition of Brain Injury Awareness Month, the podcast features conversations with industry leaders, brain injury survivors, and rehabilitation experts.
Hosted by CNS CEO and President David Harrington, a licensed occupational therapist with over 30 years of experience, the podcast will explore critical aspects of neurorehabilitation. The initial five-episode series covers topics ranging from the founding story of CNS to heart health's connection to brain injury, emotional impacts on recovery, and personal survivor experiences.
The podcast's first episode chronicles the organization's origins, detailing how founder Dr. Mark Ashley's mission to help his disabled brother became the foundation for CNS's rehabilitation philosophy. Subsequent episodes will address stroke prevention, treatment options, patient engagement, and the psychological aspects of recovery.
Produced in collaboration with the American Heart Association, the podcast aims to provide critical information to stroke patients and the broader community. By sharing real recovery stories and expert insights, the series seeks to inspire hope and demonstrate the possibilities of rehabilitation for brain injury survivors.
Key themes throughout the podcast include resilience, innovative therapies, and the potential for patients to regain independence. By presenting personal narratives alongside professional expertise, the "Neuro Skills Podcast" provides a comprehensive look at the complex journey of brain injury rehabilitation.
