China Telecom Launches OneGrowth in Asia-Pacific with AI Summit in Bangkok

China Telecom has taken a significant step in expanding its digital and AI footprint across Asia-Pacific with the launch of the OneGrowth Global Collaboration and Co-Creation Initiative at its Smart APAC · AI Innovation Summit in Bangkok last week. The event, announced via Media OutReach Newswire, drew nearly 400 guests, including government representatives, telecom operators, technology firms, and industry customers from across the region.

The OneGrowth initiative, first introduced in 2025, is now entering an implementation phase in Asia-Pacific. At the summit, China Telecom held a launch ceremony with partners including Singtel, NTT, AIS, TRUE, ETL, MEASAT, and SenseTime. The initiative is built on the principles of "Open, Nurture, and Empower" and aims to foster co-creation, sharing, co-governance, and win-win outcomes in the digital and AI sectors. This matters because it signals a coordinated push to integrate global digital capabilities with local industry needs, potentially accelerating AI adoption and infrastructure development across the region.

Dr. Chomparee Chompurat, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Thailand's Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, highlighted AI as a vital engine for Thailand's digital transformation and economic growth. She emphasized that Thailand is accelerating AI adoption in agriculture, manufacturing, healthcare, and public services to boost productivity and competitiveness, while strengthening digital infrastructure such as high-performance computing, cloud services, and data centers. She also stressed the importance of responsible AI governance, talent development, and international cooperation, noting Thailand's interest in deeper collaboration with partners like China Telecom.

China Telecom's technological capabilities were showcased by Liu Ziqian, General Manager of the Department of Science and Technology Innovation. He noted that the company's Xirang intelligent cloud manages over 118 EFLOPS of computing power, and its XingChen TokenHub aggregates more than 170 mainstream large models. China Telecom is also developing the XingChen AI foundation models and the TeleAgent platform, moving AI from model supply to task execution. Globally, the company has branches in 53 countries and regions and is building a "2+5+X" global computing power layout. These resources could lower barriers for enterprises seeking to deploy AI solutions, especially in bandwidth-constrained environments where its AI Flow technology enables stable high-definition video transmission.

Regional infrastructure development was discussed by Bill Chang, CEO of Nxera and Singtel's Digital InfraCo, who spoke about evolving from "National AI Grid" to "Cross-border AI Corridors" through coordinated networks, AI data centers, GPU and AI cloud services, and orchestration platforms. Such coordination is crucial for expanding regional AI services and advancing industrial intelligence.

Yin Jin, CEO of China Telecom Global, outlined a five-pillar cooperation focus for Asia-Pacific: AI data centers (AIDC) and computing power, Token operations, vision network, satellite communications, and mobile services. The overseas edition of the TeleAgent platform will debut in Asia-Pacific first, and China Telecom will explore localized operation and commercialization pathways for AI services through diverse cooperation models. To deepen collaboration, China Telecom Global signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with Thai operators AIS and TRUE, with the TRUE cooperation focusing on Tiantong satellite services in Thailand. Its Satellite Communications Branch also signed MoUs with MEASAT Satellite Systems and Extend Networks for Tiantong satellite services in Malaysia.

The summit underscores China Telecom's commitment to building an open, collaborative, and inclusive digital and AI ecosystem in Asia-Pacific. For businesses and consumers, this could mean improved AI infrastructure, more accessible AI services, and enhanced connectivity, while industry players may find new opportunities for partnership and innovation. The OneGrowth initiative's success will depend on effective execution and continued multi-party cooperation.
