The Chlorine Institute has recognized two industry professionals for their exceptional leadership and commitment to safety in the chlor-alkali sector. Manuel "Manny" Correia of Kuehne Chemical Company received the prestigious Peter M. Mayo Award, while John Christie of ERCO Worldwide was named an Honorary Member.
Correia, with over 20 years of experience, has been instrumental in advancing safety and emergency preparedness initiatives. His work includes serving on Emergency Preparedness and Product Stewardship Issue Teams and leading annual emergency response team training at the Mississippi State Fire Academy since 2007.
Christie's 43-year career at ERCO Worldwide has been marked by significant contributions to the Institute, including leadership roles on the CI Board. His dedication has helped advance industry safety and operational standards, earning him one of only 15 Honorary Memberships in the Institute's 101-year history.
These awards underscore the chlor-alkali industry's ongoing commitment to safety, professional development, and operational excellence. By recognizing individuals who exemplify core values of safety, respect, and integrity, the Chlorine Institute reinforces the importance of continuous improvement and leadership in industrial sectors.
