Families from across Los Angeles gathered on L. Ron Hubbard Way on July 4 to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States at the Church of Scientology of Los Angeles' Stars and Stripes Summer Festival. The event, held on Saturday, featured carnival games, water slides, and a variety of summer activities that attracted both regular attendees and first-time guests, including newcomers to the neighborhood and visitors from outside California.
As the sun set, the festivities continued with a concert emceed by American actor, comedian, and voice artist Jim Meskimen and actress Amrapali Ambegaokar. Meskimen performed a multi-voice rendition of "America the Beautiful," which drew enthusiastic applause. The concert showcased Los Angeles' diversity with performances spanning classic country by bluegrass duo Korey Simeone and Patrick Rieger, soul and gospel by singer-songwriter Prez Blackmon, and Latin music by Puerto Rican singer Luis Adrian.
The celebration took place on L. Ron Hubbard Way, a street named after author, humanitarian, and Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard. His humanitarian work has contributed to efforts against illiteracy, drug abuse, and criminality locally and globally. The street has become a gathering place for community celebrations, cultural festivals, and events that bring together people from all backgrounds.
