Clermont Karate School Marks 25 Years with Expanded Age-Structured Programs

South Lake Karate Academy is marking its 25th year of operation in Clermont, Florida, as founder Sensei Chad Love formally recognizes the milestone alongside an announcement of expanded curriculum offerings serving students from age four through adulthood.

Chad Love's path to a 6th-degree black belt began more than 40 years ago under instructors who demanded not only physical development but mental and emotional growth. That foundation shaped the philosophy he later brought into the classroom. By the time he established South Lake Karate Academy, Love had accumulated a depth of technical and personal understanding that few practitioners reach.

Love's entry into teaching was deliberate. Martial arts had produced tangible results in his own life—building confidence, providing structure, and offering a framework for managing adversity. When South Lake Karate Academy opened its doors in Clermont 25 years ago, the goal was to provide access to disciplined, character-focused martial arts training. As a karate instructor in Clermont, FL, Love recognized the community needed a program grounded in a defined philosophy.

"I started this school because martial arts gave me something I could not find anywhere else, and I wanted to give that to families here in Clermont," said Chad Love, Founder and Head Instructor. "Over 25 years, I have watched more than a thousand students walk through that door and leave more capable, more confident, and more resilient than when they came in. That is the only number that matters to me."

South Lake Karate Academy operates a structured, age-tailored curriculum. The Young Warriors program introduces foundational movement and basic self-defense to younger children. As students progress, the curriculum advances in technical depth and personal expectation. The Adult Warriors program addresses stress management, physical conditioning, and goal-setting. The structure reflects Love's view that martial arts training in Clermont should meet students where they are developmentally, physically, and emotionally.

At the center of Love's teaching is the principle that physical training is a vehicle for confidence, discipline, respect, and mental fortitude. Belt ranks serve as markers of internal development. Central Florida families have enrolled across multiple generations, with parents bringing their children to train where they once trained themselves. Love holds his 6th-degree black belt as both a credential and a commitment, having applied the same standards to himself for over four decades.

The expanded curriculum offerings are now in effect, with enrollment open for all age groups at the Academy's Clermont location.
