A New Jersey intellectual property law firm has established a scholarship program designed to support students who demonstrate both academic excellence and a commitment to community service. COFFYLAW, LLC will award $1,000 to students pursuing careers in law, social support services, and intellectual property protection.
The COFFYLAW Social Responsibility Scholarship invites applicants to submit a 1,000-word essay detailing their community contributions, motivations for helping others, and a specific example of going above and beyond to support someone in need. Prospective candidates must also provide a current resume and unofficial academic transcript.
Scholarship evaluation will focus on multiple dimensions of student achievement, including academic performance, volunteer work, extracurricular participation, and innovative thinking. The award can be applied to tuition and fees for Associate, Bachelor's, or Post-Graduate degree programs.
This initiative extends COFFYLAW's decade-long Social Responsibility Initiative, which includes pro-bono legal work and community engagement throughout the tristate area. Founded by Emmanuel Coffy, a patent-holding inventor, the firm aims to support students who embody values of social responsibility and innovative problem-solving.
Applications are being accepted through April 30, 2025, with scholarship winners to be announced in July. This program represents a strategic approach to nurturing future professionals who prioritize community impact alongside academic and professional development.
