Comcast has announced the appointment of Barry French as Senior Vice President of External Affairs for its West Division, based in Denver, Colorado. French, an award-winning marketing and communications executive with extensive government relations experience, will oversee the external affairs strategy for five regions and 13 states as Comcast expands its next-generation network.
Rich Jennings, President of Comcast’s West Division, highlighted French’s impressive track record in growth through brand awareness, government and regulatory affairs, and communications. French has led teams as large as 450 across 40 countries, driving change and delivering strong performance throughout his career. His professional journey includes significant roles at Dell, United Airlines, Nokia, and the U.S. government. Most recently, he served as Chief Marketing and Communications Officer at Inmarsat, where he played a key role in the $7.2 billion sale of the company to Viasat. At Nokia, he significantly increased the brand's value, repositioned the company, and added billions of dollars to the sales pipeline.
With a background in political consulting, French has worked with clients in the United States and over a dozen other countries. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Bates College and a Master’s degree in International Affairs from Columbia University. Currently residing in Boulder, Colorado, with his wife and son, French is also an avid hiker and runner.
