Comcast will award comprehensive grant packages to 100 small businesses in Utah's Wasatch Front region, providing critical resources to help local entrepreneurs strengthen and expand their operations. The program will distribute $3 million in support across technology, media, education, and financial resources.
The grants target small businesses in eight Wasatch Front communities, including Bluffdale, Draper, Herriman, Riverton, Sandy, South Jordan, West Jordan, and White City. Each selected business will receive a package valued at approximately $30,000, which includes a $5,000 monetary grant, computer equipment, internet services, a professionally produced television commercial, media strategy consultation, and 12-month access to entrepreneurship education resources.
This initiative is part of Comcast's broader Project UP program, which aims to create digital opportunities for small businesses. The Wasatch Front grants represent one of five regional efforts, with 500 total businesses nationwide expected to receive support through the Comcast RISE program in 2023.
J.D. Keller, senior vice president of Comcast's Mountain West Region, emphasized the importance of supporting small businesses as a critical component of economic development. The program seeks to provide innovative resources that can help local entrepreneurs navigate challenging business environments and potentially accelerate their growth.
Small business owners in the targeted regions can apply for the grants between May 1 and May 31. Since its launch in 2020, Comcast RISE has already supported 14,000 entrepreneurs across the United States, demonstrating the program's commitment to strengthening local business ecosystems.
