The Comfort Area Foundation (CAF) has launched the Comfort Flood Relief Fund in response to the devastating floods that hit the Texas Hill Country on July 4th, 2025. The floods have caused significant damage, particularly in Center Point, TX, where the community's fire station was destroyed, and across Kendall and Kerr Counties, leaving many residents to face the daunting task of rebuilding their lives.
CAF, a nonprofit with a 25-year history of serving the region, is now collecting donations to provide immediate and long-term assistance to those affected. The foundation guarantees that 100% of the contributions will go directly to vetted local nonprofits, ensuring that every dollar donated supports flood victims, first responders, and recovery initiatives within the community.
Chris Havens, Board President of CAF, highlighted the importance of local support in the recovery process, stating, "In small towns like ours, recovery isn't handled by agencies—it’s neighbors helping neighbors." This initiative reflects CAF's commitment to fostering resilience and rebuilding stronger communities in the face of environmental challenges.
The recent floods underscore the urgency of CAF's mission, especially following the community's efforts to enhance emergency preparedness through initiatives like the early warning siren system installed as part of the Vision 2050 planning.
