The DFW Car and Toy Museum marked a significant milestone with its new location, welcoming more than 600 guests on its first day of operations. Founder Ron Sturgeon, who began collecting toys in the 1980s, has expanded his lifelong passion into a comprehensive automotive and toy exhibition space.
The museum's new 150,000-square-foot facility in Fort Worth represents a tenfold increase from its previous location in Haltom City. Extensively renovated to modernize the space, the museum features over 200 cars and more than 3,000 toys, with a particular emphasis on Volkswagen vehicles.
The museum's strategic location near Interstate 35 and its upcoming events, including a Cars and Coffee gathering and hosting the Antique Toy Collectors of America annual convention, suggest potential regional tourism and automotive enthusiast engagement.
Open Tuesday through Saturday, the museum offers free admission and parking, making it an accessible destination for car and toy collectors, families, and history enthusiasts. The facility also provides additional services such as climate-controlled car storage and event spaces.
With its expansive collection and new, modernized location, the DFW Car and Toy Museum represents a significant preservation effort for automotive and toy history, offering visitors a unique glimpse into decades of collecting and automotive culture.
