The DFW Car & Toy Museum has introduced a rare Benz Patent-Motorwagen replica, Serial No. 044, to its collection, providing visitors with a firsthand look at the vehicle that marked the beginning of the automotive era. This replica, crafted by John Bentley and Sons Engineering, mirrors the original 1885 design by Carl Benz, featuring a 954cc single-cylinder engine and authentic details like a leather belt-driven transmission and tiller-style steering.
Brian Sturgeon, the museum's manager, emphasizes the replica's role as a 'time machine,' offering a tangible connection to the automotive industry's inception. The vehicle's display not only celebrates the ingenuity of early automotive engineering but also enriches the museum's diverse collection, which includes over 200 rare vehicles and thousands of collectible toys and memorabilia.
The DFW Car & Toy Museum, recognized as a top attraction in Fort Worth, continues to captivate visitors with its extensive exhibits, including themed galleries and unique vehicles like the Bugatti Veyron and Scooby Doo Mystery Machine. Admission remains free, inviting all to explore the evolution of automotive history and culture.
