DownTown Mystic Releases 'Mystic Highway Road Trip' EP, Expanding on Critically Acclaimed Sound

DownTown Mystic, the US roots rocker, is set to release a new EP titled 'Mystic Highway Road Trip' on July 10 via Sha-La Music and The Orchard/Sony Music. The EP, which will be available on all streaming services, contains six songs that continue the positive, energetic vibe that has become the artist's trademark.

The release follows the success of last year's 'Mystic Highway' EP, which garnered critical acclaim. Writer/producer Robert Allen, the creative force behind DownTown Mystic, explained that the idea for a road trip-themed EP came from reviewers who noted that 'Mystic Highway' was a great soundtrack for a road trip. 'It got me thinking, why not a summer road trip release?' Allen said.

The new EP features tracks like 'Live' with harmonica player Jerry Fierro and 'Losing My Mind' with guitarist Lance Doss, both delivering messages of hope. The rhythm section includes drummer Steve Holley (Paul McCartney, Elton John) and bassist Paul Page (Ian Hunter, Dion), both of whom played on the previous EP. Keyboardist Jeff Levine contributes on piano and B-3 organ on the previously unreleased unedited version of 'Somebody's Always Doin' Something 2 Somebody (Uncut Mix)', which was originally released as a single last fall.

Recorded at Shorefire Studios in West Long Branch, New Jersey, the EP was engineered by Joe DeMaio, who also played guitar solos on 'Superstar' and 'Shadow Walk'. Mastering was handled by Leon Zervos (Crowded House, Maroon 5, Pink) at Studios 301 in Australia.

DownTown Mystic is coming off the success of the 'On E Street Remix' EP, released in April, which featured Rock'n'Roll Hall of Famers Max Weinberg and Garry Tallent from the E Street Band. That project remixed songs recorded in the 1980s, contemporaneous with the 'Born In The USA' album. Allen noted that reviewers pointed out his music is 'rock music for today,' prompting the shift from past material to new rock'n'roll.

The artist has been on a creative streak with releases in 2025 and 2026, including 'The Wish' and 'Mystic Highway'. DownTown Mystic is considered one of the top sync-licensed artists in rock, with music featured in over 250 TV shows and films. The new EP showcases those talents.
