Sha-La Music announced the April 3 release of DownTown Mystic's 'On E Street Remix' EP, featuring drummer Max Weinberg and bassist Garry Tallent from Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band. The six-track collection will be distributed worldwide by The Orchard/Sony Music and arrives at non-commercial and college radio on April 7 with promotion handled by Brandon Day/Tinderbox Music.
What makes this release particularly noteworthy is the rarity of Weinberg and Tallent recording together as a rhythm section for an artist other than Springsteen. The tracks were recorded during the same period when the musicians were shaping Springsteen's landmark 'Born In The USA' album, giving the EP historical significance. Writer/producer Robert Allen's main goal was to give the tracks a fresh sound while showcasing the E Street musicians' brilliance, with remixing completed at Shorefire Studios where the original recordings were made.
The EP includes the thought-provoking 'Way To Know,' emotionally intense 'And You Know Why,' and lead single 'Hard Enough,' which has received substantial worldwide radio airplay with its video surpassing 550,000 views on YouTube. Also featured are the explosive 'Sometimes Wrong,' remastered by Leon Zervos, and the new instrumental 'And You Know Why (TV Mix).' Allen reflected on the original recording experience: "I was trying to develop as a solo artist when we made these recordings. The experience of playing with Max & Garry changed everything for me."
This release continues DownTown Mystic's creative momentum that began with 2023's 'AmeriKarma' album, which attracted over 3 million streams, followed by subsequent releases in 2024 and 2025. The artist's sync-licensing career launched with 'Way To Know' appearing in over 250 TV shows, beginning with 'The Voice,' and reached a high point in 2025 with three songs placed in two major films.
