Dubai to Host 9th Knowledge Summit Focusing on Future Skills and AI Economy

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) have announced the 9th edition of the Knowledge Summit, set to take place on November 18-19, 2024, at the Dubai World Trade Center. Under the theme 'Future Skills and AI Economy,' the summit aims to address critical issues in the rapidly evolving global knowledge landscape.

This year's summit is expected to draw increased participation, building on the success of previous editions which saw over 747 panel sessions, 1765 speakers, and 81,000 attendees. The event will bring together global experts, policymakers, and innovators to discuss the challenges and opportunities in developing sustainable knowledge-based economies.

A key highlight of the summit will be the introduction of the Global Knowledge Index 2024, a comprehensive tool that has gained significance in recent years for guiding national policies and strategies across various knowledge domains. The index assesses strengths and areas for improvement in fields such as education, research and development, innovation, technology, and knowledge-based economy.

In a first for the Arab world, the summit will also host the 3rd UNESCO World OER Congress, focusing on Open Educational Resources. This segment is expected to attract around 500 ministers, senior officials, and decision-makers from crucial sectors including education, digital services, and communications.

The event will feature the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Award, recognizing outstanding contributions to knowledge dissemination and development. Additionally, Coursera, the renowned online learning platform, will lead panel discussions on future skills and artificial intelligence.

His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb, CEO of the MBRF, emphasized the summit's role in establishing Dubai as a global hub for innovation and knowledge exchange. The event's focus on future skills, AI, and sustainable economic growth aligns with the broader vision of preparing societies for a technology-driven future.

By addressing critical areas such as workforce development, critical thinking, problem-solving, and emerging technologies like data analysis, machine learning, and AI, the Knowledge Summit positions itself as a pivotal platform for shaping the future of knowledge-based economies.
