EPH Group AG, a Vienna-based investment and development company focused on hotel real estate in the DACH region, has signed purchase agreements for a property covering around 2.6 hectares in Central Burgenland, Austria, through its wholly owned subsidiary EPH BGL GmbH. The company plans to develop an exclusive five-star resort with approximately 300 beds, combining contemporary luxury with the region's wine culture and cuisine. The purchase agreements are subject to conditions precedent, including a final and binding building permit for the planned resort. The project will be advanced step by step in accordance with local framework conditions.
The resort concept is designed to appeal primarily to guests in the upscale leisure and luxury segment, offering a year-round experience that leverages Burgenland's tourism strengths. Planned highlights include a spacious wellness area, private lodges set amid the vineyards with their own pools and private wellness areas, a rooftop restaurant with panoramic views, a stylish wine tavern known as a “Heuriger” directly in the vineyards, and a dedicated wine and culinary experience. The resort's immediate proximity to a renowned thermal spa and a golf course will further complement its leisure and recreation offerings. The panoramic setting, with views across Burgenland's rolling hills to Hungary, is intended to become a defining element of the architectural and tourism experience.
For hotel operations, EPH Group plans to cooperate with an internationally renowned hotel operator, consistent with its other projects. The company aims to strengthen Burgenland as a destination for discerning international guests and to open new prospects for regional tourism. By combining wine, cuisine, wellness and golf, the resort is expected to operate largely independently of the seasons. In addition to direct jobs at the resort, regional hospitality and wine-growing businesses, producers, craft companies and service providers, as well as other tourism operators in the surrounding area, are intended to share in the value created.
“Burgenland combines a unique landscape with a rich tradition of wine and culinary culture, creating ideal conditions for discerning year-round tourism,” says Yasmin Wilfling, Member of the Management Board of EPH Group AG. “With our resort, we want to bring these distinctive qualities together in an internationally positioned luxury hotel concept. It is important to us to make the identity of the region visible and tangible while at the same time generating sustainable momentum for regional value creation.”
