The Fairmont Grand Hotel Geneva is set to conduct a comprehensive auction of its entire hotel inventory, marking a significant milestone in the property's storied history. Over four days in February 2025, thousands of lots will be offered for sale, including furnishings, artwork, restaurant equipment, and even theatre contents from the renowned Théâtre du Léman.
The auction, to be conducted by Pro Auction, a specialist hospitality sector auction house, represents more than just a sale of assets. It symbolizes the transition of a historic landmark that has been a cornerstone of luxury hospitality in Switzerland since 1885. The hotel will temporarily close at the end of 2024 to undergo a major transformation starting in the second quarter of 2025.
Located on the shores of Lake Geneva, the hotel offers stunning views of the Jet d'Eau fountain, Mont Blanc, and the French Alps. With 412 rooms, multiple high-end restaurants, a spa complex, and a 1,400-seat theatre, the Fairmont Grand Hotel Geneva has long been a premier destination for international travelers.
The upcoming renovation aims to reposition the hotel as a cutting-edge example of sustainable luxury design. The project is expected to create a new icon in Geneva's hospitality landscape, promising to deliver an unparalleled guest experience while honoring the property's extraordinary legacy.
The auction will take place from February 17-20, 2025, starting at 10:00 CET each day, with online bidding available via a live webcast. Potential buyers can view items from February 10, 2025, with the auction catalogue available for download from the bidding website.
