Food Liability Insurance Program (FLIP) has expanded its coverage options by introducing online product recall insurance specifically designed for food and beverage businesses. This new offering allows entrepreneurs to purchase protection against the financial impact of product recalls entirely online, eliminating the need for insurance agents and making coverage more accessible.

The product recall insurance is available for as little as $109 per year when added to any FLIP general liability policy. Business owners can choose between two coverage limits: $10,000 aggregate or $25,000 aggregate. The coverage is tailored for small to mid-sized food and beverage operations and covers expenses related to both voluntary and involuntary recalls.

This development comes at a critical time for the food industry. According to FLIP data, food recalls increased by 15% between 2020 and 2024, with approximately 300 recalls occurring in 2024 alone.
