Frontieras North America Appoints Refining Veteran Robert Portz as VP of Operations and Engineering

Frontieras North America, an energy and environmental technology company, announced the appointment of Robert Portz as vice president of operations and engineering. Portz brings more than 30 years of refining operations experience, including leadership roles at facilities operated by Ashland Oil, Hunt Refining Company, Sinclair Oil and PBF Energy. He previously helped build Wyoming Renewable Diesel Company under Sinclair and later served as technical manager at PBF Energy's Toledo Refinery.

Frontieras said Portz will oversee facility operations development for its planned Mason County, West Virginia, flagship plant, including engineering coordination, construction oversight, workforce development and commissioning activities. The company is commercializing its patented FASForm(TM) Solid Carbon Fractionation process, a zero-waste technology designed to convert coal and other solid hydrocarbons into fuels, hydrogen, industrial carbon, sulfuric acid and fertilizer through a closed-loop process.

This appointment comes as Frontieras moves forward with its innovative technology that aims to transform coal into clean-burning fuels and other valuable products. The company's focus on delivering abundant, affordable, and available energy through profitable, market-driven innovation positions it within the broader energy transition landscape. Portz's extensive experience in refining operations is expected to accelerate the development of the Mason County plant, which could have significant implications for the coal industry and regional economic development.

The FASForm process represents a potential shift in how solid hydrocarbons are utilized, offering a zero-waste solution that produces multiple revenue streams. For investors, this signals Frontieras's progress in moving from concept to commercialization. The company's technology could address environmental concerns associated with coal while creating economic opportunities in regions like West Virginia.
