GE Vernova Expands Pennsylvania Operations with 250 New Jobs and $100 Million Investment

GE Vernova, a global energy company, is set to add 250 new jobs at its Charleroi, PA, factory as part of a broader $100 million investment in Pennsylvania over the next two years. This expansion aims to manufacture high voltage switchgear products, essential for the stable operation of the nation's electrical grids, and is part of GE Vernova's commitment to modernizing the grid for economic growth, enhancing domestic supply chains, and bolstering national security.

The investment in Charleroi complements GE Vernova's earlier announcement of a $600 million multi-year investment expected to create 1,500 jobs across U.S. factories. Scott Strazik, CEO of GE Vernova, emphasized the importance of grid infrastructure in powering America's economy and reindustrializing Pennsylvania's manufacturing sector. The company's efforts are also focused on closing a crucial gap in the domestic supply chain and improving global competitiveness.

In addition to the Charleroi expansion, GE Vernova has secured an order to supply seven high-efficiency natural gas turbines to the Homer City Energy Campus. This project, transitioning from coal to natural gas, will support a 3,200-acre data center campus catering to the growing demands of AI and high-performance computing, with completion expected by 2027. Strazik highlighted the project's role in delivering reliable, affordable power and creating skilled jobs, positioning Pennsylvania as a leader in the next era of AI.

These investments are part of GE Vernova's $9 billion global capital expenditure and R&D plan through 2028, underscoring the company's role in producing over half of the U.S.'s power and employing more than 18,000 workers across 50 states. The expansion and technological advancements signify GE Vernova's commitment to a sustainable and secure energy future, aligning with its mission to electrify and decarbonize the world.
