Rainforest Partnership is set to host a groundbreaking global livestream event titled 'Planet Walkers: A Global Livestream and Call to Breathe With the Forest' on June 22, in celebration of World Rainforest Day. This event is designed to engage millions worldwide in a collective act of solidarity with the planet's rainforests, through guided walks broadcast from biodiversity hotspots across the globe.
The livestream will feature segments from forests in the Amazon, Kenya, Southeast Asia, and other critical regions, with guidance from Indigenous leaders, scientists, and cultural storytellers. Participants are encouraged to join the movement by walking in their local communities, sharing their experiences online, or simply spending time in nature. The event is accessible worldwide at www.worldrainforestday.org, with suggested hashtags including #PlanetWalkers and #WorldRainforestDay.
Niyanta Spelman, CEO of Rainforest Partnership, emphasizes the event's significance, stating, 'When we walk with the forest, we walk for our future. Every step is a statement.' The 2025 campaign aims to mobilize one million participants and generate over 100 million digital impressions, alongside raising funds for rainforest protection through acre pledges and donations.
World Rainforest Day, observed annually on June 22, underscores the vital role of rainforests in climate regulation, biodiversity support, and the livelihoods of over one billion people. Rainforest Partnership, in collaboration with ZoeTerra and other partners, seeks to transform this observance into a global demonstration of ecological solidarity, with long-term goals of community activation and environmental stewardship.
