Great American Media has entered a development, distribution, and marketing partnership with Minivela, a vertical shorts platform created for U.S. Hispanic and Latin American audiences, to launch Pure Flix Familia, a Spanish-language and bilingual destination for faith- and family-centered storytelling. The collaboration, announced during the ANA GrowthFronts in New York, positions both companies at the forefront of the expanding micro-drama category by combining Pure Flix's established audience with Minivela's creator-driven, mobile-first production model tailored for Latino viewers.
The partnership is significant because it addresses one of the fastest-growing and most underserved audiences in the global streaming marketplace. Under the multi-project agreement, Minivela will produce a curated slate of premium micro-dramas, including original IP and adaptations from Pure Flix's content library, designed specifically for vertical viewing and values-driven audiences. Production will be anchored in Miami, Los Angeles, New York, and key locations across Latin America, with content in Spanish, English, and Spanglish.
Bill Abbott, President and CEO of Great American Pure Flix, stated that Minivela was selected as a strategic partner based on its decades-long track record in Hispanic media, storytelling, and film production, as well as its early leadership in vertical short-form content. "We're delighted to build Pure Flix Familia with a highly creative and strategic partner that, like us, is deeply committed to storytelling that resonates with Latino audiences across the U.S. and Latin America," Abbott said. Minivela will leverage Pure Flix's first-party audience insights to inform development, ensuring content is tailored to family audiences.
Beyond production, Minivela will collaborate with Pure Flix on distribution opportunities for family-focused IP and advise on content acquisition strategies to expand reach among U.S. Hispanic and Latin American audiences. The companies will also work together on brand integrations and advertiser partnerships, creating new opportunities for marketers to connect with audiences through culturally relevant, story-driven content. This aligns with Pure Flix's long-term strategy to build a multi-platform ecosystem for trusted, family entertainment.
Carlos Ponce, actor, producer, and Minivela co-founder, emphasized the partnership's importance for Latino creators. "What makes this partnership especially meaningful to me is the opportunity it creates for Latino writers, directors, and creators to bring their voices to values-driven storytelling within the Pure Flix Familia ecosystem," Ponce said. He is also set to star in upcoming Pure Flix Familia projects. Manny Ruiz, CEO of Minivela, noted the alignment with positive, faith- and family-centered stories, stating, "At a time when much of the micro-drama space is driven by volume over value, we're proud to partner with Pure Flix to deliver universal stories that truly entertain, uplift, and connect."
The alliance underscores a shift toward culturally resonant, mobile-first storytelling in the entertainment industry, with implications for content creation, distribution, and advertising. Pure Flix Familia, set to debut later this year, will be accessible on platforms like Pure Flix and social media channels, including TikTok @MinivelaTV, expanding the reach of family-friendly entertainment. This move not only taps into a demographic with significant growth potential but also sets a precedent for how traditional media companies can innovate through partnerships with niche, digital-native platforms to enhance cultural relevance and audience engagement.
