A new healthcare advocacy organization, IMA Action, has launched a comprehensive campaign to support Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s confirmation as Secretary of the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), signaling a potential shift in healthcare policy and governance.
The organization, a 501(c)(4) advocacy arm of the Independent Medical Alliance, is mobilizing healthcare professionals nationwide to advocate for what they describe as much-needed healthcare system reforms. Their campaign focuses on restoring transparency, accountability, and integrity in medical decision-making.
Dr. Joseph Varon, IMA President and Chief Medical Officer, emphasized the significance of this moment, stating that tens of thousands of healthcare professionals are supporting Kennedy's confirmation. The campaign aims to challenge what they perceive as powerful conflicts of interest in healthcare funding.
The multi-faceted campaign will include both paid and grassroots components, targeting senators, policymakers, and public health agencies across numerous states and Washington, DC. Lynne Kristensen, Communications Director for IMA Action, indicated the organization will actively counter what they call 'Pharma-financed opposition' to Kennedy's potential appointment.
By supporting Kennedy's confirmation, IMA Action hopes to advance their vision of 'Honest Medicine,' which prioritizes evidence-based, personalized care and seeks to protect the doctor-patient relationship from corporate influences.
