Healthspan Action Coalition and Italian Partners Launch Global Collaboration to Extend Healthy Lifespan

The Healthspan Action Coalition (HSAC) announced a strategic international collaboration with a coalition of leading Italian organizations, including Fondazione Bicocca, Italian Sources for Healthspan and Saturnia Healthy Longevity, Palazzo Fiuggi, Columbus Clinic Center, Tennis & Friends, Women Economic Forum Italy, BrainCircle Italy, AEON Foundation, and The Cure Alliance (Italy Healthspan Initiative). The partnership aims to advance scientific innovation, public understanding, policy engagement, and practical action to extend healthy human life.

This collaboration creates a platform for cooperation across longevity and aging science, regenerative medicine, preventive health, education, convening, and public-policy dialogue. It will connect investigators, clinicians, entrepreneurs, patient advocates, universities, foundations, women’s leadership networks, and public institutions in both countries and internationally. Spearheaded by Camillo Ricordi, M.D., HSAC Chief Scientific Officer, the initiative unites scientific, civic, philanthropic, and institutional leaders around a shared global healthspan agenda.

The importance of this alliance lies in its potential to address the economic and social challenges of aging populations. By focusing on early intervention and prevention, the collaboration seeks to reduce the burden on reactive health systems. “The science is moving rapidly toward a new paradigm: intervening earlier to identify invisible risk factors years before they progress toward disease, preserving function and preventing chronic illness by fully integrating predictive and preventive strategies,” said Ricordi. “This will reduce the overburdening of a reactive health system already straining in the face of worldwide aging populations.”

Bernard Siegel, JD, co-founder and executive director of HSAC, emphasized the urgency: “This collaboration couldn’t come at a more urgent time. It dovetails with our goal of improving the healthspan for all people, regardless of race, gender, geography or socioeconomic level. Nations across the globe need unprecedented measures to circumvent the potential social, humanitarian and economic problems of the coming aging tsunami by ensuring that health and vitality are achievable well into the older years.”

The initiative will be formally announced during the opening program of the Translational Longevity Summit in Boston, where Giovanna Iannantuoni, President of Fondazione Bicocca, will deliver opening remarks. The Summit will take place October 7-11 at Harvard University’s new Enterprise Research Center in Boston, MA. “Our overarching mission requires collaboration across disciplines, institutions, and national borders. This Italy-HSAC initiative is designed to bring scientific excellence together with public leadership, education, and implementation, so that advances in regenerative medicine, prevention, and longevity science can benefit people around the world,” said Iannantuoni.

The partners will explore joint activities including international forums, public education initiatives, connections among researchers and policymakers, dialogue on policy and investment, and opportunities to elevate women’s leadership. The collaboration reflects HSAC’s mission to deliver extended healthspan globally. As Siegel noted, “This is a historic moment in the field of healthspan. We’re deeply honored to be working with some of Italy’s most prominent health and longevity organizations on our shared goals for the good of people everywhere.”

The Translational Longevity Summit is produced under the Boston BioLife umbrella in collaboration with the Healthspan Action Coalition, World Stem Cell Summit and Regenerative Medicine Foundation.
