Hong Kong Electronics Fairs Attract 60,000 Global Buyers as AI and Robotics Take Center Stage

The 45th Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) and the 28th electronicAsia concluded their physical exhibitions at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, attracting approximately 60,000 industry buyers from 142 countries and regions. The four-day concurrent events demonstrated Hong Kong's continued role as a critical global electronics marketplace, with increased buyer participation from Spain, Japan, Brazil, and Australia compared to the previous year.

This year's fairs placed significant emphasis on artificial intelligence and robotics technology, aligning with Hong Kong's policy direction to promote AI as a core industry for development. The events featured multiple themed zones and professional forums focused on three major areas: AI and Robotics Technology, Digital Entertainment, and the Silver Economy. Industry surveys conducted at the fair revealed that 44% of respondents have ventured into the exploration or integration of Generative AI technology, with applications primarily in product design and development (60%), customer service and support (40%), and marketing and advertising (35%).

The survey, which interviewed 1,092 buyers and exhibitors, also indicated optimistic growth prospects for the electronics sector in emerging markets. Respondents rated the Middle East (77%), Korea (70%), India (69%), and ASEAN countries (69%) as having very promising or promising growth prospects for their products over the next two years. Additionally, 51% of respondents expect overall sales to increase in the next 12 to 24 months, signaling confidence in the industry's recovery and expansion potential.

More than 3,200 exhibitors from 20 countries participated in the twin fairs, with the HKTDC organizing 120 buyer delegations from 61 countries and regions. The events featured robotics products from leading mainland tech enterprises including Deep Robotics and BrainCo from "Hangzhou's Six Little Dragons," along with DIGIT, PaXini, and LimX from "Shenzhen's Eight Great Guardians of Embodied Intelligence." The newly introduced RoboPark activity zone hosted over 30 live robot demonstrations and featured presentations from renowned robotics companies such as Unitree Robotics and Booster Robotics.

Several companies reported significant business outcomes from their participation. Shanghai Hi-dolphin Robot Technology Co., Ltd secured an onsite order for 10 COFE+ Robot Coffee Kiosks totaling US$450,000 from a Turkish client, while establishing 200 promising leads with buyers from Thailand, the United States, and other regions. PaXini Technology reported intended orders expected to exceed tens of millions of renminbi through engagements with dozens of high-quality potential clients from Southeast Asia, Europe, and the United States.

International buyers demonstrated strong interest in emerging technologies, with Robopreneur Sdn. Bhd. from Malaysia expecting to spend around US$2 million annually on robots with embedded AI, and Alraja Trading FZC LLC from the United Arab Emirates projecting a purchasing budget of US$300,000 for this cycle, potentially reaching US$1.5 million annually as partnerships develop. The organizer hosted more than 100 engaging activities, forums, and robot showcases, including the 10th Symposium on Innovation and Technology and seminars on AI-powered monitoring and e-commerce trends featuring platforms such as JD.com and Lazada.

Participants can continue to explore business opportunities through the Click2Match smart business matching platform under the EXHIBITION+ hybrid model until October 23. The successful conclusion of these fairs reinforces Hong Kong's position as a vital bridge connecting global electronics markets and facilitating international business expansion in the rapidly evolving technology landscape.
