The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) collaborated to showcase 22 Hong Kong technology exhibitors at GITEX Global 2025 in Dubai, facilitating market entry into the Middle East region. The dual pavilion approach highlighted Hong Kong's strengths in artificial intelligence, robotics, Internet of Things, and green technology sectors, demonstrating the city's growing influence in global technology markets.
Robocore Technology Limited emerged as one of the standout success stories from the event. The company engaged in serious discussions with a multinational outdoor advertising company considering global deployment of Robocore's advertising robots. CEO Roy Lam revealed that GITEX represented their fourth international exhibition with HKTDC support this year, following participation in CES in Las Vegas, Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, and Viva Technology in Paris. During the five-day exhibition, Robocore established connections with more than 250 Middle Eastern companies, with numerous buyers expressing interest in purchasing robots or becoming local distributors.
The most significant development came from Robocore's renewed engagement with Omani authorities, culminating in plans to sign a Memorandum of Understanding to establish an AI and Robotics Center in Oman. This partnership will focus on localized talent training, certification programs, and cross-departmental pilot projects, representing a substantial commitment to technology transfer and knowledge sharing between Hong Kong and Middle Eastern markets. Lam emphasized the strong demand for Hong Kong's innovation and technology products in the region and confirmed ongoing expansion efforts.
To strengthen business networks, HKTDC organized a networking dinner on October 14 in collaboration with the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Dubai, attracting approximately 100 industry representatives from Hong Kong and international markets. The event provided crucial platform for Hong Kong exhibitors to establish local connections and understand regional market dynamics.
Winnie Leung, founder of WYNI Technology, credited HKTDC for bridging the gap between Hong Kong enterprises and Middle Eastern markets. The organization facilitated connections with local banks and companies, advancing business expansion efforts in the region. Leung confirmed that WYNI Technology will pursue follow-up activities to solidify potential partnerships and continue Middle East market development.
Canpanion Group Limited engaged with a local education company during networking events, exploring technology integration for inclusive education. The company also established contact with relevant local authorities and will further explore collaboration opportunities through support from the Dubai Economic and Trade Office. Additional interest emerged from local educational institutions considering partnerships to establish AI schools, potentially creating comprehensive smart education ecosystems.
Concurrent with GITEX Global, HKSTP established a pavilion at Expand North Star from October 12-15 at Dubai Harbour, featuring innovative solutions from 10 park companies. The Hong Kong Polytechnic University also participated in the exhibition, underscoring the academic-commercial collaboration driving Hong Kong's technology sector.
HKTDC continues its strategy of leading Hong Kong businesses to major international technology exhibitions, supporting overseas expansion for local startups and reinforcing Hong Kong's position as a global innovation hub. Following GITEX Global 2025, the organization will organize Hong Kong Tech Pavilions at CES in Las Vegas in January, MWC 2026 in Barcelona in March, and VivaTech in Paris, providing continuous platforms for technology companies to showcase cutting-edge innovations.
