The 35th Education & Careers Expo, organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), will take place from January 22 to 25 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre with free public admission. This year's event brings together over 860 organizations from 23 countries and regions across dedicated "Education" and "Careers" sections, providing comprehensive information on further studies and employment opportunities.
An enhanced "CV Clinic" introduces new services including Personal Colour Analysis, a 16 Personality Types Magic Quiz, one-to-one career consultations, and an Aptitude Test Ready Station. These offerings aim to help job seekers gain deeper insights into their strengths and plan career paths with greater clarity. Smilely Lam, Assistant Executive Director of the HKTDC, stated the Expo's theme "Go with Your Passion, Go Beyond Limits" aligns with four key areas: Civil Servants & Public Services, Next Gen Technologies, Healthcare & Wellness, and Greater Bay Area Opportunities.
The Expo supports Hong Kong's development as an international education and talent hub, featuring seminars to attract non-local students and showcase institutional advantages. A highlight is the "A Date with Giants" seminar with representatives from enterprises like J.P. Morgan and Lenovo, designed to inspire exploration of career opportunities in technology, finance, and entrepreneurship. The China Hong Kong Elite Union will host "Hong Kong Drifters"—Mainland students studying in Hong Kong—to share their educational and employment experiences.
The "Education" section includes four zones: "Local Studies," "Non-Hong Kong Education," "Lifelong Learning," and "Youth Zone." The "Local Studies" zone will showcase technological achievements like the SOPHIE 8x solar car model from the Vocational Training Council and an "AI Tower Crane Simulator" from the Hong Kong Institute of Construction, demonstrating innovative educational approaches. Institutions will introduce new application-oriented programs in robotics and automation engineering to address global talent demands.
The "Non-Hong Kong Education" zone offers study abroad advisory services covering Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Belt and Road countries. The "Lifelong Learning" and "Youth Zone" sections provide further education information for professionals and young people, with organizations like the Employees Retraining Board offering skills training and the Professional Communication Association sharing public speaking techniques.
On the employment front, over 30 government departments and public organizations will participate in the "Careers" zone, reflecting strong demand for young talent in public service. The "Recruitment Square" will offer employment information with some employers conducting onsite interviews. The upgraded "CV Clinic" features six services including CV consultations, professional photography, and interview strategy sessions from partners like Jobsdb and MT20 Consulting Limited. During the Expo, four themed days will feature over 100 activities with industry experts sharing insights on technology, public service careers, and working holiday programs.
