Humane Society Silicon Valley Launches Holiday Pet Adoption and Support Initiatives

The Humane Society Silicon Valley (HSSV) has unveiled its annual 'Home for the Holidays' program, a series of initiatives designed to boost pet adoptions and support animal welfare during the festive season. The program, which includes discounted adoption fees, community events, and specialized pet training, reflects HSSV's ongoing commitment to animal welfare and community engagement.

Starting November 29, HSSV will offer a reduced $50 adoption fee for select dogs and cats as part of its 'Home for the Holidays Adoption Promotion.' This initiative aims to encourage more families to consider pet adoption during a time when many are seeking to expand their households. The promotion aligns with HSSV's broader mission of finding permanent, loving homes for animals in need.

In addition to adoption incentives, HSSV is organizing several community events to raise awareness and support for animal welfare. These include the 'Giving Tree' at the Detkin/Oates Center, where visitors can donate to help adoptable animals, and participation in themed events such as 'Paws & Claus' at PayPal Park and 'Santa Paws' at Santana Row. These events not only provide opportunities for community engagement but also serve as platforms for HSSV to collect donations for its Pet Pantry program, which is on track to serve more than 2 million pet meals this year.

Recognizing the challenges that the holiday season can present for pet owners, HSSV is also offering a 'Holiday Manners' intensive online class. This three-week course aims to prepare dogs for the unique situations that arise during the holidays, focusing on essential behaviors to ensure a harmonious celebration for both pets and their families.
