Intellitec Solutions, a Newark, Delaware-based enterprise resource planning (ERP) advisor and reseller, is celebrating its 25th anniversary this week, marking a quarter century of helping organizations turn technology into a business advantage. For the company, the milestone is less about nostalgia and more about the evolution of its expertise alongside the technology it supports.
Intellitec's origins trace back to 1986, when the team was part of an accounting firm. Clients repeatedly faced a common dilemma: their accounting software didn't meet their needs, and they couldn't find anyone to help. The firm's team, leveraging their CPA backgrounds, stepped in to solve these problems, and their proficiency quickly gave rise to a dedicated business. Intellitec Solutions was founded not to sell software, but to help clients use the technology they already had more intelligently.
"That's the part of our story I'm proudest of," said Rick Sommer, President of Intellitec Solutions and a founding team member. "We didn't start out trying to sell anyone anything. We started out solving a problem our clients actually had. Twenty-five years later, that's still the whole job. Helping organizations use technology intelligently, not just use more of it. Everything else we've built follows from that."
Over the years, the technology landscape has shifted dramatically—from on-premise servers to cloud-native platforms, from manual data entry to automated, real-time reporting. Yet, the core team has remained remarkably stable. Fourteen of Intellitec's employees have been with the company since its earliest days, and their cumulative experience has become a distinct competitive advantage. With over two decades of pattern recognition, they apply their deep industry knowledge to whatever platform a client is running today.
That growth is reflected in the numbers: the team has expanded from 14 to 42 professionals, and Intellitec is now recognized as a leading partner of Sage Intacct and Microsoft Dynamics. This expansion has been supported by collaborations with technology partners such as PointClickCare, Solver, and others, whose platforms Intellitec has helped integrate for clients.
Tom Rogers, Senior ERP Advisor and one of the original fourteen employees, reflected on the changes: "The tools we use today look nothing like the ones we started on, and honestly, that's the fun part of the job. There's always something new to learn. But the instinct for what a client actually needs hasn't changed since day one. If anything, having seen so many platforms and so many trends come and go makes it easier to tell clients what's actually going to matter for their business, and what's just noise."
Intellitec plans to commemorate the anniversary throughout the year with content spotlighting its team, clients, and lessons learned from 25 years of ERP implementations. The underlying message is clear: technology is only as effective as the guidance behind it. As the company looks to the future, its mission remains unchanged—to provide expert, client-focused advice that turns technological investments into lasting business value.
