The Business Leadership Council (BLC) has selected Keiana Barrett as its new Chief Executive Officer, marking a significant milestone for the organization dedicated to advancing Black business leadership in Chicago. Barrett brings extensive experience in communication, diversity, and civic engagement to the role, having previously served in key positions with organizations like Rainbow PUSH Coalition, Congressional Black Caucus, and the 2024 Democratic National Convention Host Committee.
Founded in 2010 by Frank Clark and James Reynolds, the BLC represents over 120 Black business leaders from more than 25 industries, including 65 CEOs of African American businesses. The organization has consistently worked to grow the scale and capacity of Black enterprises while developing future leadership talent.
Barrett's appointment underscores the organization's commitment to driving meaningful change. Her vision centers on transforming inclusion from a principle to a tangible business practice that creates measurable impact. With her diverse background in communication, development, and corporate diversity, Barrett is well-positioned to expand the BLC's influence in Chicago's government, civic, and business landscapes.
The organization's mission extends beyond business networking, serving as a critical resource for mentoring young professionals and providing guidance to government leaders at city, state, and county levels. Barrett's leadership is expected to further amplify the voices and opportunities for Black entrepreneurs and corporate professionals in the region.
