Laconiko, a producer of single-origin, first-press, early harvest extra virgin olive oil (EVOO), has been awarded 'The Best in Greece' and 'Best Koroneiki Olive Oil in the World' at the 2025 Athena International Olive Oil Competition (AIOOC). This recognition underscores the exceptional quality and health benefits of Laconiko's olive oil, made from the Koroneiki olive variety, known for its high polyphenol content. These natural antioxidants are linked to heart health, reduced inflammation, and protection against oxidative stress.
The competition, one of the most prestigious in the world, also honored Laconiko with 15 awards, including double gold medals for its extra virgin olive oil and the best international flavored olive oil for its Citrus Habanero variety. Dino Pierrakos, co-owner of Laconiko, expressed pride and gratitude for the recognition, attributing the success to the support of loyal customers and the family's dedication to tradition and innovation.
Laconiko's achievement not only celebrates the quality of Greek olive oil but also highlights the growing appreciation for healthy, flavorful olive oils in the American market. The awards serve as a testament to the family's commitment to sustainable practices and the production of high phenolic and high oleocanthal olive oils, bridging Greek heritage with modern market demands.
