Mindy Hall’s latest suspense novel, “It Takes Two,” delves into the fragile line between safety and chaos, exploring how hidden secrets and moral choices can upend ordinary lives. The book follows the intertwined stories of Emily Kristich, a devoted mother who stumbles upon a murder scene in a shopping center parking lot, and Joan Chavez, a respected medical professional whose secret actions threaten her career. Set in the tranquil town of Pleasant Creek, the novel examines themes of justice, responsibility, and the unexpected strength found in human connection.
Hall’s inspiration for the book stems from her love for stories that resolve well and portray people who genuinely enjoy one another, as she discussed in a CBS Radio interview with Benji Cole of People of Distinction. The novel was also featured at the 76th Frankfurt Book Fair in Frankfurt, Germany, from October 16-20, 2024, where it was displayed by Citi of Books, a publisher that began as a small literary boutique in New Mexico.
“It Takes Two” is part of Hall’s Louisa Daniel series, which also includes “Nowhere Is Somewhere.” Hall, a speech therapist by training, describes herself on her Medium page as a “lifelong learner” passionate about activism and justice. The novel offers a compelling portrait of how lives intersect in unexpected ways, suggesting that survival and redemption rarely rest on one person alone.
The book is available for purchase through multiple retailers, including Citi of Books, AbeBooks, Amazon, Powell’s, and Walmart. Citi of Books, the publisher, emphasizes high-quality publishing services and aims to support diverse authors in achieving their publishing goals.
