Mullen Automotive (NASDAQ: MULN) and its subsidiary Bollinger Motors have achieved a significant milestone with the production of their first customer-ready B4 electric truck. The all-electric Class 4 Bollinger B4 Chassis Cab rolled off the production line in Livonia, Michigan, on September 20, 2024, marking a pivotal moment for the company's venture into the commercial electric vehicle (EV) market.
The production launch event, attended by employees, suppliers, and government officials, underscores the growing importance of EVs in the commercial sector. Bollinger Motors CEO Jim Taylor emphasized the readiness of the commercial vehicle segment for electrification, stating that the B4 truck is poised to meet the evolving needs of fleet operators across the country.
This development is particularly noteworthy as it represents Bollinger Motors' successful pivot to the commercial vehicle segment, a strategic move made two years ago. The B4 electric truck, produced in partnership with Roush Industries, is entirely assembled in the United States, aligning with the growing demand for domestically manufactured EVs.
The launch of the B4 electric truck production comes at a time when Mullen Automotive is expanding its commercial presence. The company recently began commercial vehicle production at its Tunica, Mississippi plant and has received IRS approval for federal EV tax credits on its commercial vehicles. Additionally, Mullen has expanded its commercial dealer network and obtained Foreign Trade Zone status for its Mississippi manufacturing center, potentially enhancing its competitive edge in the market.
As the electric vehicle industry continues to evolve, Mullen's progress in the commercial EV sector could have significant implications for the broader automotive market. The successful production of the B4 electric truck may accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles in commercial fleets, contributing to reduced emissions and operational costs for businesses across various industries.
With Mullen CEO David Michery set to provide a video update on the company's achievements and progress in expanding sales and distribution channels, investors and industry observers will be closely watching for further developments in Mullen's EV strategy and its potential impact on the commercial vehicle market.
