MWG Holdings Group, Inc., a prominent cannabis company in California, has announced the continuation of its multi-year partnership with the Last Prisoner Project, a nonprofit dedicated to cannabis criminal justice reform. Through July, Perfect Union dispensaries will host an in-store fundraiser to support the organization's efforts to free individuals incarcerated for cannabis offenses and repair the harms of criminalization.
Angelica Sanchez, MWG Holdings’ VP of Government Affairs and Compliance, emphasized the importance of addressing the injustices of cannabis prohibition. The fundraiser invites customers to contribute to a cause that seeks to rectify the disparities between current cannabis legality and past convictions.
Since 2020, MWG and the Last Prisoner Project have collaborated to raise funds for legal support, policy reform advocacy, and reentry services. The organization has made significant strides, including redistributing over $3.5 million to those in need and providing legal counsel to more than 400 individuals.
Philip Feng, Development Associate at the Last Prisoner Project, acknowledged the critical role of industry partners like Perfect Union in advancing justice and equity. The initiative underscores the collective responsibility to ensure inclusivity in the evolving cannabis landscape.
Customers can participate by donating at specified Perfect Union locations and Wild Seed Wellness store. MWG Holdings' commitment to community engagement and philanthropy is evident in its support for meaningful reform and local partnerships.
