At Three Trails Elementary School in Independence, Mo., the American Heart Association, the Kansas City Chiefs, and the National Football League (NFL) have launched two significant health initiatives ahead of the 2024 NFL season. The NFL PLAY 60 program encourages children to engage in 60 minutes of physical activity daily to improve both physical and mental health. Additionally, the Nation of Lifesavers program aims to double the survival rates of cardiac arrest by 2030.

A second Fitness Break will precede Super Bowl LIX in February 2025.

With over 350,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occurring annually in the U.S., knowing CPR is crucial. The association's guidelines recommend immediate chest compressions at a rate of 100-120 beats per minute and a depth of two inches if a teen or adult collapses.
The Nation of Lifesavers initiative has seen the NFL Foundation and the American Heart Association promoting Hands-Only CPR education through in-school programs. As part of this commitment, the Kansas City Chiefs provided CPR training to youth sports coaches and donated CPR in Youth Sports Kits to 11 area schools. These kits come with Hands-Only CPR and automated external defibrillator (AED) training for school staff and coaches.
