The University of Notre Dame has partnered with the Military Spouse Advocacy Network (MSAN) to develop two innovative training programs exclusively for military spouse leadership program alumni, targeting critical areas of professional and personal growth.
The new programs, developed through a multidisciplinary collaboration involving 10 campus organizations, will focus on ethical leadership and mental health wellness. The Leadership in Ethics course will equip participants with skills in conflict management, workplace communication, and decision-making, while the mental health course series aims to dispel mental health myths and promote emotional resilience within military communities.
These programs represent a significant investment in supporting military families by providing targeted, specialized training. Participants will be selected through a competitive application process, with each cohort limited to 50 students who have previously graduated from MSAN's Leadership Development Program.
University leadership emphasized the institution's long-standing commitment to serving military personnel and their families. University President Rev. Robert A. Dowd highlighted the partnership as an opportunity to share scholarly research and support those who sacrifice for the country.
By focusing on leadership development and mental health awareness, these programs seek to create a network of empowered military spouses who can drive positive change in their communities. The initiative underscores the importance of providing targeted support and resources to military families beyond traditional support structures.
