The Mommy Archives is organizing a Family Dance Party on Sunday, November 8, from 3–6 PM at Moxy Williamsburg, aiming to bring more than 200 New York City parents and children together for an afternoon of music, dancing, and family-friendly activities. The event serves a dual purpose: fostering community among local families while raising funds for Single Moms of Brooklyn, a local initiative that provides emotional support, community, and resources to single mothers. Net proceeds from ticket sales will directly benefit the organization.
The event also extends its impact through a partnership with family brand Nuna, which will donate $5,000 worth of products to Room to Grow, a nonprofit supporting families experiencing poverty during the critical first three years of a child's life. Moxy Williamsburg is supporting the event as its venue partner, hosting the festivities in its Bar Bedford Garden. Attendees can expect a DJ, photo booth, face painting, crafts, glitter tattoos, games, and other family-friendly activities, all designed to create a joyful setting that turns a community gathering into tangible support for organizations serving parents and children.
For Jules Ferdowsi, founder of The Mommy Archives, the event is deeply personal. "I wanted this event to be more than just a fun afternoon for families," Ferdowsi said. "Community is at the heart of everything we do at The Mommy Archives, and I know firsthand how important it is for parents to have a community they can turn to. It was important to me that bringing families together could also directly support other parents and children. Single Moms of Brooklyn is especially meaningful to me personally as a member of the organization, and I'm excited to be able to give back to a community that has meant so much to me." Both Single Moms of Brooklyn and Room to Grow have played a meaningful role in Ferdowsi's journey as a solo parent, underscoring the personal connection behind the event's mission.
The Mommy Archives connects over 4,400 NYC families through its newsletter, Instagram, and WhatsApp channels, and hosts free community events, family programming, and partnerships aimed at making NYC parenting feel more connected and less isolating. The Family Dance Party reflects this broader mission by creating an opportunity for families to come together while supporting organizations that serve families across the city. As Ferdowsi noted, parenting doesn't have to be done alone—and this event puts that belief into action, offering a model for how community gatherings can double as meaningful philanthropy.
